Bloat, Gut & Everything In-between ..

Let's talk about weight loss ! Loosing weight can be a challenge for anyone. Whether you're looking to tone up or slim down, it takes hard work and dedication to reach your goal ! 
     People have asked me over the years what I do to stay in shape. To be completely honest, diet and proper nutrition is all I do, in addition to some fun activities when I can't find the time to work out in my home gym. 
Working out is hard for me. It's hard for me to find the time to commit to going to a gym, so I try and stay as active as possible with activities that I enjoy that give me a bit of a workout. Whether kayaking up stream against the current to work my arms and back, doing yoga and inversions to work my core, or going to an aerial class to get an overall body workout; supplementing in fun activities is way easier for me to stay committed to than going to the gym daily.
      
Some days I don't have time for any of this, so I'll do a few squats with weights and some sit ups and call it a day. I've found more and more that beating myself up about working out everyday only makes me not reach my goal. It's when I'm more lenient with myself, but still driven that I actually see results. 
       The one thing that people don't understand is that the majority of weight loss does not come from hardcore workouts; it all starts with food. Proper nutrition is the fastest way to slim down and tone up. Crash diets are a no,no people! I reccently heard about the "military diet" where you eat one egg and toast for breakfast, some sort of fruit for lunch, and a hot dog for dinner. Seriously? In my eyes that's malnutrition!  You're barely eating and the stuff you are eating is processed crap that in no way can support your body. It's important to be sure your feeding your body with the proper nutrients it needs to keep your metabolism booming and your tummy comfortably full.  
      I personally eat a paleo based diet. I started paleo a few years ago and loved how I felt. I had a lot of energy, my skin looked great, I was toned and constantly full when I had a meal. I fell of the wagon and just reccently reminded myself of how great I felt and looked when I was on the paleo train. I'm on day 15 of being back on paleo and don't think I'll ever go away from this style of eating again.  I've lost 9 lbs in the 15 days, am back to having lots of energy, and feel amazing!  
      I'm not fighting the constantly bloated feeling I had when I wasn't eating paleo. I don't have headaches anymore and my digestion is so much better! Eating non- processed foods and cutting out added sugar, carbs and dairy is a huge game changer for me. Paleo isn't for everyone, but I can safely say when I eat this way I feel my absolute best.
